Despina Vandi /
Gia Nearly every time I sit down to listen to music, Despinas' Gia is my first choice.Sometimes the first disk, other times both CDs. And it's like, each song I want to turn the volume up a little more... Despina sings with a vigilant, eternal hope. The music twists and turns, and progresses through several styles : it just sounds fantastic.I have the american version, with all writing in Greek. Amazon Half.com |
VIA Gra /
Deluxe Collection I bought this years ago, from an american company. I have never seen this collection anywhere else. This is a 'pre' Biologia greatest hits package of 20 songs, which is ultimately their best.In my opinion. I also own Pocelui, and it does sound better, particularly in dolby surround. With different songs. |

Da Buzz /
Da Sound I bought this CD, thinking there were 3-4 good songs. The whole album does bring a ray of sunshine into your listening experience. Annika displayed a strong vocal ability, combined with some relatively simple, groovy synth pop music. I'm almost afraid to listen to new DaBuzz, for fear they would break the ideals I find in this music. Amazon Half.com |

Protereotita The euro-edition of My Number One is surprisingly rich in flavor and style. I don't know, just give it a listen . Ten songs with Greek lyrics, and 6 in english. Amazon |

Leslie /
Je Suis,Et Je Resterai This was my third Leslie CD,and quickly turned into my favorite. Leslie had a lot of help with this recording, bringing in a some great musicians which makes this music feel like a tropical paradise. She had a few 'hit songs' on this album, but what is really interesting are the other songs on Je Suis,Et Je Resterai . |

Nelly Furtado /
Loose I managed to download the european version, which has a couple more songs than the american album. We kind of sat back in our chair, in awe, as this album spent years on the charts..slowly, from country to country, in succesion. and we were still enjoying listening to the album, the whole time. Za Chetyre Morya I bought two copies of theis album, one for home, and one for my truck. While learning Russian, following the lyrics gave me a sense of the language better than the other artists I listened to. The music is a jazzy, seductive style, and reminds me of dancers, skilled performers on a stage. That kind of music. It was always fun to try to solo the karaoke tracks at the end of the album, too. |

Janna Friske /
Zhanna I bought this before the re-release version ,which has Mama-Mariya and the videos for three songs on it. The music is agreeable in a way that makes it an 'anytime' any mood album. For me. what is strange, here, is that Janna has released so many other songs/videos, and yet only 3 songs from this album were hits. Well, she has been acting and performing on television shows so often, that she post-poned her next album. Re-release on Amazon |

Kristina Orbakaite /
My Life Kristina toured america with these songs. Despite the title, every song has lyrics in Russian. It's just plain 'fun' to listen, with lots of great music that flows into a party atmosphere. Somehow, her songs awaken you from a loneliness, and transforms your mood into outward happiness. Amazon |

Total: /
2 [Moy Mir] These are the musicians who 'session' for Yulia Savicheva. Their album is a rock n roll style that is hard to describe, without hearing. It's all in your personal definitions of music styles. To me it rocks. Others, say it's light rock. Compared to ... what ? As compared to most of my favorites, it rocks. Amazon |

Leslie /
Mes Couleurs This is a fine RnB effort from Leslie. These songs have a heartfelt presence; a hope, a desire . It's not for everyone, but she continues to bring in talented musicians to perform in her music. And still holds the albums together in their respective style. Amazon |

Bananarama /

Paola and Chiara /
Greatest Hits This is a great collection of songs, although some of the vocal tracks were re-done for this album. Paola and Chiara singing together just amazes my inner senses. The music isn't bad, but the singing is what I really admire . Amazon |

Next! This is the german version, which is really cool. As the vocals change from english to german, and back, the music never stops entertaining the listener..this is good hip-hop in that the lyrics are not so 'gangsta' nigga kinda crap rap, but they actually say something about life: Life is good, be cool. Yulia Savicheva /
Origami What scares me, is when people say Yulia is the Russian Kylie. That just doesn't compliment her,in my opinion. What I enjoy is, this 'all-girly' rock style she portrays on the album. Maybe the fact that the musicians from Total help her out( I don't know if that is an accurate statement, honestly) brings a familiarity to Origami.Since her ESC 2004 performance, watching Yulia dance to her own songs, while onstage, just delivers a sincere, honest warmth in her album. Tina Karol /
Polus Prytiazhenia Each album of Tinas features great music to accompany her singing. Her face on the album almost represents the calm appearance, masking the storminess we each harbor in our very soul. On Polus Prytazhenia, she toned down her vocals (compared to previous albums) just enough to make the music much more interesting. She sings a couple songs in english here quite well, but the typo-graphical error on the back of the album is strange.Whatever you might think of the person, her music is awesome. Blestyashchie /
Belym Snegom This album slowly builds up until halfway through, the songs are more dance tempo..Blestyashchie, in my opnion, were more about 'art' than pop music. I like to sit back, and listen as they alternate singers, and just try to picture who is who by sound.Once you are inside, the music becomes more intimate. |
|
technoir /
Groundlevel These songs have a darkness, a drama that makes Technoir unique among my favorite artists. I don't sit here, and critique ; I just let it soak in and revel in the experience. The absurd part is, trying to buy this album. Due to a lawsuit, most copies were pulled from shelves.Where they went...probably destroyed. I never did hear why ...maybe it's the 'Elvis' or Elvis impersonator that was sampled. Groundlevel |

Kristina Orbakaite /
Ver b Chudessa Kristina had a few hits on this album. What I really enjoy here are the 'other' songs; the music is basically unexplored territory. Or maybe an entertainer discovering the raw sound of their style. Pretty much, after this album, Kristina came out rockin n rolling her way onto the charts of Russia. Amazon |

Paul Hardcastle /
III Paul Hardcastle is an english jazz musician who continues to make great albums. If you enjoy an occasional, jazzy ambience/background music, this one will probably have you reaching for the up volume button in no time. This is one of those CDs which stays in my changer all the time. Maybe a once a month I'll listen, yet it's always there. At the ready . Amazon Half.com |
