I watched this movie on sunday afternoons, great for the whole family.Later on, this became a
creature feature , saturday night movie. Abbot and Costello did many good movies with the classic horror
figures -the werewolf,the mummy,the invsible man...This one
does make for any occasion - humor to fright.

The Wizard of Oz is/was an annual television event in my childhood.And if it was on, we watched.
Okay, most of the movie is in color. What can be said about this movie; you watch it, it's unlike
anything else you will see. It's good.For the whole family.The dastrdly witch who torments Dorothy
is only getting what she deserves,and the big,bad wizard is merely a reminder that 'just be yourself'
is the best advice of your life.

This movie really has an impact on you, the first time you watch it. The Grapes of Wrath is the story of

Charlie Chaplin had many great short features,its hard to pick one. The Gold Rush is full of the prat-falls
and slap-stick comedy of its day. But by the time Charlies roommate gets hungry, and imagines him as a
plump chicken, I start crying...There is plenty more fun in this feature as well.

The War of the Worlds is one of the few pre-1960s movies that really was a horror film.
Those eerie laser beams, the sounds accompaning them. All those brave men, and their futuristic weapons
are no match for the invaders. Ahh, yet they couldn't get over the common cold so well.
The 2005 remake is also pretty darn spooky to watch.

The Marx Brothers are still on television once in a while. They bring a unique whackiness to film that few have followed.

Ma and Pa Kettle were mediocre at best. The laziness of Pa, and all those kids made for some fun.

The movie was the annual christmas matinee at our local theatre. Nevermind all the smart-alecky kids who new the lines and gags by heart:we got a free movie, and a bag of in-the-shell peanuts from Santa Claus.In person. He arrived on a firetruck ! While this will never compare to the original 3 Stooges material of the 1930s and 40s, the movie carries enough fun and fright to placate your average kid. What does this have to do with Christmas ?
